Nabilah El-Khoury is a minor character from Human Resources. She is the wife of Amir El-Khoury and the mother of Nadja and Natalie El-Khoury. She is voiced by Ulka Simone Monhanty.
Biography[]
In Rutgers is for Lovers, Nabilah is dining with her family discussing their days. She admonishes Natalie for wasting grapes by putting them on her principal's car and celebrates the fact that Nadja was accepted into UC Berkeley. At Nadja's hesitation, she realizes her girlfriend, Danielle, is the reason she is so conflicted about making her decision. She and Amir discourage her from rejecting her dream school over a high school crush and insist that, even though their relationship started in high school, it started off as purely physical and it wasn't serious. When Nadja concedes to going to Berkeley and trying a long-distance relationship with her girlfriend, Nabilah reminds her that she and Amir are proud of her.
In It's Almost Over, Nabilah expresses her discomfort with taking care of Yara at home, as she believes they can't give her the help she needs. She argues that, while Amir is being a good son, he is not the one who has to wipe her when she goes to the bathroom. The argument abruptly ends when Yara strips her shirt off due to being hot. Later in the episode, she is seen helping her husband take care of Yara. When Amir discovers that she is missing from her room, the two panic and try to find her. After Amir brings her home, they yell at Natalie for taking her from the house without telling anyone. Amir breaks down in grief after finally accepting his mother's fate, and Nabilah supports him as they mourn together over her death.
Relationships[]
Amir El-Khoury - Nabilah and Amir met in high school, where they both expected their relationship to be purely physical. They later fell in love, married, and had two daughters together.
Nadja El-Khoury - Nabilah is very supportive of her eldest daughter, supporting her even when she initially wanted to go to Rutgers while waiting to hear back from Berkeley. While she understood her daughter's hesitation in leaving her girlfriend, she encouraged her to focus on herself and her dreams over anyone else's.
Natalie El-Khoury - Nabilah and Natalie presumably get along well, but it seems that Nabilah can be more critical of her younger daughter, getting upset with her over wasting food but not for getting detention.
Yara El-Khoury - Nabilah and Yara had a good relationship prior to Yara's Alzheimer's developing. She admitted to loving the woman and only wanting what was in her best interest. She mourned along with her husband when her mother-in-law passed.
